Our company and our achievements
are recognized and requested around the country by some of the world’s
largest companies, national associations and agencies, and grassroots
organizations.
In 2000, BETAH was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the
500 fastest-
growing companies in the country. Inc. magazine created its
annual ranking
in 1982 to chart the progress of America’s most successful and
innovative
entrepreneurs. To be eligible, companies must be independent and privately
held, have at least $200,000 in sales in the base year, and have progressively
increasing annual sales. (In fact, between FY2001 and FY2002, BETAH’s
revenues increased 30 percent, growing from $7.5 million to $9.1 million.)
In
recognition of BETAH's outstanding performance in producing the
broadcast of the 1999 The Surgeon General’s African American
Community HIV/AIDS Conference, the firm received an Aegis Award for Production
Quality. The Aegis Awards are peer-judged honors recognizing
excellence
in the video production industry.
The 90-minute satellite conference, which addressed
the impact of HIV/AIDS on the African American community, was transmitted
live on November 30, 1999, from the campuses of five Historically Black
Colleges and Universities.
For the event, which was co-hosted by local community-based
organizations and several Historically Black Colleges and Universities,
BETAH staff undertook the formidable task of researching, assembling,
and directing the professional, technical, and production teams, and
advised on all aspects of creative development and production. More
than 40 downlink sites watched the conference, which was also seen on
cable television and over the Internet.
“I want to say THANK YOU to your
staff for your outstanding commitment and professionalism . . . at one
of the largest events held by the United States on the eve of World
AIDS Day . . . . I commend you all for producing such a creative and
informative program. [Your staff’s] experience and knowledge of
television production, as well as logistics support, creativity, and
management skills, resulted in a dynamic and unique video production."
